Learn Tech Skills in Peace River: Tuesdays with Taiwo

If you’ve ever said, “I’m not good with computers,” you’re not alone.

But here’s the truth: tech skills can be learned. At your pace. In your way. And right here in Peace River.

Taiwo representing Vision Learning Centre at the Peace River Trade Fair, promoting tech learning support.

Every Tuesday, Taiwo from Vision Learning Centre sets up at the Peace River Municipal Library. It’s part of our community outreach to help people build real, usable skills — the kind that make everyday life easier.

Whether you’re job hunting, upgrading your education, or just trying to stop feeling lost when someone says “click the dropdown menu”… Taiwo can help.

So, what can you actually learn?

A lot more than you think.

Here are just a few things Taiwo has helped adults learn this year:

  • Creating a resume in Google Docs

  • Using email confidently

  • Navigating job search sites

  • Filling out online forms for benefits and services

  • Accessing MyAlberta Digital ID

  • Learning Zoom for virtual meetings

  • Using Canva to create flyers and posters

  • Understanding Excel basics (yes, even formulas!)

  • Booking appointments or applying for programs online

If it’s something you need to learn to feel more confident, we’ll walk you through it. One step at a time.

Is it just on Tuesdays?

If you’re looking to learn tech skills in Peace River, you can drop in for help at the library on Tuesdays from 12–2 or book one-on-one support by appointment for just $5/hour.

He’s available Tuesday to Friday, September to June, at Vision Learning Centre. That means you can get personalized help in a quiet, welcoming space — and only pay a fraction of what a private tutor would cost.

Real talk: Tech isn’t about age — it’s about access

We’ve seen seniors send their first email. Newcomers apply for jobs online. Parents figure out how to help their kids with school platforms.

You don’t need to be “techy.” You just need someone who can slow it down and show you how.

That’s what we do.
